Kazakhstan pays great attention to the implementation of measures for the gasification of all settlements of the country.

 

“As of January 1, 2018, the gasification coverage level of the population of the Republic of Kazakhstan is 47.38%,” Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Magzum Mirzagaliyev told a press conference in the CCS.

As the Vice-Minister informed, today natural gas is supplied to 11 of the 17 regions of the country, while the central and northern regions of the country are still left without natural gas.

According to the statistics provided by the speaker, the level of gas supply in the regions is as follows: Mangistau Oblast - 99.86%; Atyrau region - 97.8%; Almaty - 97%; West Kazakhstan oblast - 93.98%; Aktobe region - 88%; Kyzylorda region - 64.19%; Shymkent - 90%; Turkestan region - 40%; Zhambyl oblast - 64.61%; Kostanay region - 54.48%; Almaty region - 35.69%.

As Magzum Myrzagaliyev noted, the implementation of the project will bring such socio-economic effects as infrastructure development along the main gas pipeline route and new production facilities using natural gas; phased provision of 171 settlements (Astana, Karaganda Oblast — 119 n. p., Akmola Oblast — 51 n. p.) along the natural gas pipeline Saryarka; creation of about 800 jobs during the construction period, and 225 jobs during the operation period (according to the feasibility study); improving the environmental situation in the regions along the route of the first stage of the Saryarka gas pipeline (Zhezkazgan, Karaganda, Temirtau, Astana) by replacing coal.
