The Heads of State discussed topical issues on the bilateral agenda, including Kazakh-Russian cooperation in the trade and economic sphere.
- Indeed, there is no reason to be disappointed with the dynamics of trade and economic cooperation and political interaction between our countries. Trade turnover reached 25 billion dollars. Russia, for Kazakhstan is the main partner in the trade and economic sphere. Therefore, the tasks that I set before our Government is not only to maintain this dynamic and the volume of trade and investment, but also to increase it, despite all the difficulties arising from modern geopolitical realities. I took with me the main officials of the Government of Kazakhstan responsible for this bloc, headed by the First Deputy Prime Minister. They held very productive negotiations, they were given the task of working in a businesslike manner with the Government of the Russian Federation in order to achieve concrete practical results, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
The Head of State said that today 20 large projects worth $4 billion are at various stages of implementation in such industries as engineering, metallurgy, and the chemical industry.
In turn, the President of Russia also noted the positive dynamics in the development of trade and economic cooperation between the countries.
- In general, everything is developing well in our country, last year, the growth of trade turnover amounted to 34%. $17 billion has been invested by Russian companies in the economy of Kazakhstan. The situation as a whole is developing, despite today's well-known and understandable difficulties for all of us, - Vladimir Putin said.
The parties agreed to discuss a wide range of issues on the bilateral economic agenda at the upcoming Interregional Forum in Orenburg, which is scheduled to be held in autumn 2022.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev confirmed that, at the invitation of Vladimir Putin, he would take part in the St. Petersburg Economic Forum in June this year. Also, the Kazakh government delegation plans to take part in a major industrial exhibition in Yekaterinburg.
